I got lucky early in my search but have heard enough horror stories from colleagues who did “master courses” with different so-called self-appointed masters, before they joined us, and discovered that truly becoming a “Feng Shui Master” took much longer than the promised week they had been promised. |

| Think about it, we are dealing with a very serious issue, and therefore need more than a weekend or a week – long course, to achieve the level of knowledge to substantially change some ones life. Half knowledge is truly dangerous, and something done wrongly or with insufficient knowledge, can even harm. ( See my article : water dragons, busting the myth ) |

| Today one comes across self styled “Feng Shui Consultants” literally crawling out of the woodwork, and since in the non-Chinese world there are no bodies to regulate what one masquerades as, there is no real control over the numerous self-styled “masters”. |

| So what do you chose? |

| There are so many sources of information, books written by famous authors, (one can’t become a doctor after reading medical text books can you?), classes that range from a few hours to a couple of days, correspondence courses over the internet, (one cannot guarantee that the course has been interpreted correctly), and Master Diplomas that you can get over a five day programme. (The fact that a greater part of those 5 days are spent shopping at the instructors Feng Shui boutique is another story altogether.) |

| And the worst part is that in most cases, there are no real exams that are controlled by any board, so to be a consultant or a holder of a Masters Diploma, all you need to do to become a master is to pay the fees, attend the class and maybe shop a little. |

| These are the kind of “masters” who after doing one of these courses, truly believe that they can change your life by placing a few objects in various “corners” of the house. No offence to their teachers, most of them pick out the easy stuff and give the genuine stuff a miss, because it is really hard work, learning this stuff. |

| It’s a bit like trying to become a doctor by reading the medical journals. The point Is one can always count on human suffering and greed to believe that a few thousands worth of objects can make you as successful as Bill Gates. |

| And nothing can be further from the truth. |
